Alec tossed his topper in the air, spun in place, and caught his hat before replacing it once more.

A giggle reached his ears - ears wich quickly heated when he realized how foolish he must have looked. He glanced up and saw a ginger-haired girl of five or six walking hand-in-hand with her father. eyes twinkling, she gave him a gap-toothed grin as she passed.

Alec doffed his hat to her and continued on his way.
