The Storyteller's Daughter - Citação [8]

Listen to my name as I send it across the years. Do you not hear its power? The way the very syllables are hard and soft all at once, even as I was? They illuminate and darken. Peveal and conceal Whisper it now, and my story begins.

The Storyteller's Daughter - Citação [7]

A story beats with the heart of every person who has ever strained ears to listen. On the breath of the storyteller, it soars. Until its images and deeds become so real you can see them in the air, shimmering like oases on the horizon line.

Listen now. Listen truly. Fall under my storyteller’s spell.

She was willful and headstrong, impetuous and bossy; also brave and independent. And there were flashes of tenderness just below the surface, though it took a sharp eye and ear to catch them; sometimes it was no more than a softness creeping into her voice that gave her away.

Aurelia blinked. “On the contrary, I believe the young man you have threatened just now is at least as fine an example. Would you not say his refusal to betray my identity or lie to you at peril of his own life can compare to any form of loyalty.

Robert tugged the knife from his boot and flung the blade into the earth in front of her. “Have it,” he said. “But if you think I’m going to train you to kill someone, Aurelia, you could not be more wrong.”

But the other hoofbeats did not stop. Nor did they fade or mingle with Bianca’s. Instead, they pounded the road’s surface at an even faster rate, closer and closer. Aurelia knew she could not outrun them. They would reel her in, pull her down, overtake her. There was nothing she could do to stop the inevitable, only close her eyes, hang on, and refuse to give her pursuer the chance to breathe. Her heart pounded at the same pace as the hooves of her mount, and for one long spectacular moment she saw nothing. Then the hand touched her shoulder.

HOOFBEATS THUNDERED FROM BEHIND. IMMINENT. Aurelia flung herself farther forward, low against the neck of her mare. Go Bianca! She urged. The muscles beneath her shifted into a smooth firing of movement, and the gray horse burst into a more rapid pace, soaring over the stones and sand. The spring air turned cold as it sheeted across the exposed section of Aurelia’s face, and the thinning fir trees along the road blurred into solid walls of forest green as the sound of Bianca’s hooves blended to a single continuous roar.

Into The Woods - Citação

Careful the wish you make
Wishes are children
Careful the path they take
Wishes come true, not free
Careful the spell you cast
Not just on children
Sometimes the spell may last
Past what you can see
And turn against you
Careful the tale you tell
That is the spell
Children will listen

“You are lucky to be one of those people who wishes to build sand castles with words, who is willing to create a place where your imagination can wander. We build this place with the sand of memories; these castles are our memories and inventiveness made tangible."
